The National Statistical Institute has started a project ‘Development of a European Index of Services production (ISP)’

NSI has started a project ‘Development of a European Index of Services production (ISP)’ implemented in accordance with the Grant agreement with the European Commission № 06131.2014.002-2014.365.

The aim of the project is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of statistical production process and provide statistics on key areas linked to enterprises. 

The main activities of the project will be developed in three areas:

From August 2014 Eurostat launched a second round of peer reviews in all EU member countries, which must be completed by July 2015.

Unlike previous reviews, the current peer reviews in the system of Eurostat will cover all the principles of the European Code of Practice. The approach will be auditing, i.e. a team of auditors will draw up the final recommendations for all countries - members of the European Union.

The National Statistical Institute has started work on the “Action plan for EU-SILC improvements” project

The National Statistical Institute has started work under the “Action plan for EU-SILC improvements” project since September 2014. The implementation of the project is in accordance with Grant Agreement with the European Commission № 07142.2014.001-2014.254.

The general objectives of the project are the timeliness of the EU-SILC data and the tests in the context of the preparation of the revision of the EU-SILC. In order to fulfill the main objectives of the action the following activities are foreseen:

100th Conference of the Directors-General of the National Statistical Institutes (DGINS) and 22nd meeting of the European Statistical System Committee

On 24 and 25 September 2014 in Riga, Latvia, the 100th Conference of the Directors-General of the National Statistical Institutes (DGINS) will be held. The European Statistical System Committee shall meet on 26 September 2014. The representative of Bulgaria in both forums will be Mrs. Diana Yancheva, Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute.

The President of the NSI Sergey Tsvetarsky will take part in two UN Forums on Geospatial Information Management

At the invitation of the Director of UNSD Stefan Shveinfest and the Director General of Eurostat Walter Radermacher the President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky will participate in two forums of particular importance to the development of modern statistics: World Forum for the integration of statistical and geospatial information - on 4 and 5 August 2014, and the session of the Committee of Experts on the management of global geospatial information to the United Nations - on 6 and 8 August 2014. Both events will be held at UN headquarters in New York, USA.

Final conference of the project “Creation of a National Database of Social Enterprises in Bulgaria for the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (MLSP)”

On 18 - 19 July 2014 in Borovets resort was held training and final conference of the project “Creation of a National Database of Social Enterprises in Bulgaria for the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (MLSP)” under contract SI2.650082 between the European Commission, Directorate “General Enterprises and Industry” and MLSP.

Project partners are the Social Assistance Agency, the National Statistical Institute and the Central Cooperative Union. The project started at the end of May 2013 and its duration is 14 months.

The final meeting within twining project was held in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

On 30 June -1 July 2014 in Skopje was held the final meeting of participants in  ‘Support to the State Statistical Office for capacity building and improving compliance of statistics with EU standards’ Twinning project, on which partners are the Federal Statistical Office of Germany (DESTATIS) and the State Statistical Office of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The project started in the second half of 2012 and its duration is 24 months. Junior partner is the Statistical Office of Denmark, and experts participate from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and France.

155 years official Romanian statistics

On the occasion of the 155th anniversary of the official Romanian statistics and at the invitation of the President of the National Institute of Statistics of Romania, Mr. Tudorel Andrei, the President of the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria, Mr. Sergey Tsvetarsky, will take part in the celebrations on July 11, 2014 in Bucharest.
