Labor productivity, persons employed and hours worked for the Second Quarter of 2019
According to the preliminary data, GDP per person employed increased by 3.5% in the second quarter of 2019 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

At the National Statistical Institute according to preliminary data 52 licensed insurers, 9 pension companies and 28 pension funds managed by them, 257 special investment purpose companies and 9 727 associations and foundations have submitted their annual reports for 2018.
According to preliminary data annual reports on their activity for 2018 were submitted at the National Statistical Institute by 413 162 non-financial enterprises and the number of persons, employed in them, was 2 207 549. These enterprises generated 180 626 million BGN of production value and reported a positive financial result of 17 035 million BGN.
According to preliminary data the foreign direct investments in the non-financial sector as of 31.12.2018 amounted to 25 454 million Euro at current prices.
According to preliminary data in 2018 the expenditure on acquisition of tangible fixed assets in all sectors of the economy amounted to 19 267 million BGN at current prices.
According to preliminary data during the second quarter of 2019 in comparison with the same period of 2018 there was a decrease both in the goods carried and in the transport performance by the freight transport.
In the second quarter of 2019 the transported passengers by passenger transport (land, water and urban electrical transport) decreased by 0.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, while the transport performance increased by 5.2%.
Total Producer Price Index in July 2019 increased by 1.3% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2018 the prices rose by 3.0%. Producer Price Index on Domestic Market in July 2019 rose by 1.4% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2018 the domestic prices grew by 3.9%.
In June 2019 compared to May 2019 an increase is reported for the production of and transport diesel - by 0.7% and electricity - by 0.8%. During the same period, a decrease is reported for the production of solid fuels - by 38.3%, liquefied petroleum gases - by 9.1%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 2.5%. No change for the production of natural gas.
In June 2019 compared to May 2019 an increase is reported for the deliveries of liquefied petroleum gases - by 14.3%. A decrease is reported for the deliveries of solid fuels - by 37.3%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 2.2%, natural gas - by 13.7% and electricity - by 1.1%.
In August 2019, the business conjuncture in the country is assessed as unfavourable. The total business climate indicator decreases by 3.1 percentage points compared to its July level as reduction of the indicator is registered in all observed sectors - industry, construction, retail trade and services.
In July 2019, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 779.5 thousand or by 7.2% above the registered in July 2018. The trips with other purposes (as a guest, education and visit the cultural and sport events) in July 2019 composed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - 40.7%, followed by those with holiday and recreation purpose - 39.7%, and with professional purpose - 19.6%.
In July 2019, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 2 083.1 thousand or by 3.2% less in comparison with July 2018. In July 2019, the predominant share of the visits with holiday and recreation purpose was 55.5%, followed by trips with other purposes - 36.7%, and with professional purpose - 7.8%.
According to the preliminary data for the second quarter of 2019 the total turnover index in section ‘Transportation, storage and post’, calculated on the basis of seasonally adjusted data decreased by 1.3% compared to the first quarter of 2019. In section ‘Information and communication’ the turnover index grew by 3.6%.
