Gross Domestic Product for the Second Quarter of 2020 (preliminary data)
According to the seasonally adjusted data, GDP decreased by 8.5% in the second quarter of 2020 compared with the same quarter of 2019.

According to preliminary data the foreign direct investments in the non-financial sector as of 31.12.2019 amounted to 25 427 million Euro, which was 2.0% more compared to 2018.
According to preliminary data annual reports on their activity for 2019 were submitted at the National Statistical Institute by 418 616 non-financial enterprises and the number of persons, employed in them, was 2 211 342. These enterprises generated 194 504 million BGN of production value and reported a positive financial result of 19 259 million BGN.
At the National Statistical Institute according to preliminary data 49 licensed insurers, 9 pension companies and 28 pension funds managed by them, 249 special investment purpose companies and 9 754 associations and foundations have submitted their annual reports for 2019.
According to preliminary data during the second quarter of 2020 in comparison with the same period of 2019 the goods carried and the transport performance by the freight land and water transport increased, respectively by 6.1% and 0.2%.
In the second quarter of 2020 there was a decrease both in the transported passengers (by 47.5%) and the transport performance (by 62.6%) from the passenger transport (land, water and urban electrical transport) compared to the same period of the previous year.
In June 2020 compared to May 2020 an increase is reported for the production of solid fuels - by 6.7%, unleaded motor gasoline - by 19.0%, transport diesel - by 31.1%, and electricity - by 15.1%. No change for the production of liquefied petroleum gases and natural gas.
In June 2020 compared to May 2020 an increase is reported for the deliveries of solid fuels - by 7.8%, liquefied petroleum gases - by 16.7%, and transport diesel - by 19.0%. A decrease is reported for the deliveries of unleaded motor gasoline - by 4.7%, natural gas - by 5.4%, and electricity - by 0.3%.
Total Producer Price Index in July 2020 rose by 2.4% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2019 the prices fell by 2.1%. Producer Price Index on Domestic Market in July 2020 increased by 1.6% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2019 the domestic prices fell by 0.7%.
In August 2020, the total business climate indicator increases by 0.5 percentage points in comparison with the previous month, which is due to the more favourable business climate in service sector.
In July 2020, during the continuing epidemic situation in the country, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 316.6 thousand, or by 59.4% under the registered in July 2019.
In July 2020, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 705.6 thousand or by 66.1% less in comparison with July 2019.
In August 2020, the National Statistical Institute conducted the monthly inquiry survey of the managers of accommodation establishments to gather accurate and timely information on the state and development of their businesses during the ensuing epidemic situation in the country.
