For more than 60 years, the statistical authorities of the European Union's Member States have been working together with Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, in the European Statistical System, to produce reliable and comparable data.
New digital publication presenting the life of women and men in Europe
Our lives are filled with different milestones, such as starting school, leaving the parental home and starting work, getting married, having children, retiring… When it comes to education, employment, careers and earnings, but also childcare, health and nutrition habits, or cultural, sports and internet habits, there are large differences between women and men but also between EU Member States.
Scientific and practical conference ‘Statistics as science and practice - traditions and modern dimensions’ at D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov
On 20 October 2017 a scientific and practical conference ‘Statistics as science and practice - traditions and modern dimensions’ will be held commemorating the European Day of Statistics and the 80th anniversary from the beginning of the statistics training at D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov. The scientific forum has been organized by the academy on the eve of its holiday in partnership with the National Statistical Institute and the Agrostatistics Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
NSI - host of training on JDEMETRA+ and seasonal adjustment for National Account data
National Statistical Institute hosts training of statisticians from Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Turkey, organized jointly with Eurostat.
Lecturers of the course are Dario Buono and Enrico Infante from Eurostat.
The course is held in the period 17-19 October 2017 in the Training and Qualification Center of NSI in the village of Slivek, Lovech region.
The training course for young statisticians from six countries successfully completed
In 2017, the National Statistical Institute continued to implement successfully its Policy for development of cooperation with the European Neighbourhood Policy - East countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). After last year’s course entitled ‘Introduction to the Theory and Organization of Statistical Surveys’ which was attended by 12 young statisticians from the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, this year the geography of the participating countries was expanded.

NSI actively develops cooperation with the OECD
On 5 and 6 October 2017 in Paris, France, the Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute Diana Yancheva will participate in a conference of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on the topic ‘The role of Official Statistics in an evolving communication society’. The event is organised under the auspices of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistical Policy with the aim to address the challenges faced by national statistical offices in a rapidly evolving world and help develop new communication strategies for national statistics.
